Arslanbob Ski Challenge: 23 January, 2021

Do you want to ski or snowshoe in the biggest walnut forest in the world? Or do freeride snowboarding or skiing in pristine nature? Then join the annual Arslanbob Ski Challenge!  In addition to the skiing events, CBT Arslanbob will arrange lunch and a folklore show during the event.

Ski Challenge Activities: 

  • Winter sports races: Skiing, snowboarding, snowshoeing
  • Traditional games: Tug of war, checkers, chess, arm wrestling, traditional wrestling, wrestling on horseback
  • Other races: Donkey race, horse sledge race
  • Folk show
  • Award ceremony

Where: Arslanbob village in Jalal-Abad Region, Kyrgyzstan.

When: 23 January, 2021

Schedule of Events:

  • 10:00 Opening ceremony and start of the Ski Challenge
  • 13:30 Lunch
  • 16:00 Presentation of prizes

Note: It is recommended you report to the CBT Arslanbob office on 22 January so you can be placed in a home stay, receive information about the event and get an introduction to the route.

Entrance cost: Participation in Arslanbob Ski Challenge costs 2,000 KGS/person. Ski rental is 800 KGS. Please note that there are a limited number of skis and equipment available to rent, so participants should bring their own skis and gear if they can.

Entrance fee to the festival only is 500 KGS/person, including lunch and folklore show.

How to participate: Get in touch with CBT Arslanbob to register your participation in the bike challenge. They will also help you organize accommodation and anything else you need for your visit.

How to get to Arlsanbob village: From Jalal-Abad city to Arslansbob village, you can take a marshrutka to Bazar-Korgon village (40 KGS). From there, you will need to change to a marshrutka going to Arslanbob (60 KGS). Alternatively, you can directly go from Jalal-Abad city by private taxi for 1,000 KGS one way (1.5 hours). From Osh, there is a marshrutka that leaves daily in the early afternoon and takes around 4-5 hours.

Arslanbob Bike Challenge: 8 May, 2021

Do you want to mountain bike through the biggest walnut forest in the world? Even if you are not a cycling expert you can still take part in the fun and adrenaline of this challenge. Non-cyclists can still join in the fun to support local tourism and watch the spectacular scenes of the Arslanbob Bike Challenge. In addition to the mountain bike race, there will be a music show featuring live music and dancing so be prepared to party with locals.

Where: Arslanbob village in Jalal-Abad Region

When: 8 May, 2021. The bike challenge begins at 8:30 AM.

Note: It is recommended you report to the CBT Arslanbob office on 7 May so you can be placed in a home stay, receive information about the event and get an introduction to the route.

Entrance cost: Participation in Arslanbob Bike Challenge costs 2,000KGS/person. Bike rental is 1,500 KGS. Please note that there are a limited number of mountain bikes available to rent, so participants should bring their own bikes if they can.

Arslanbob Walnut Festival and Running Race: 3 October, 2021

Do you want to run through the biggest walnut forest in the world? The Arslanbob Walnut Race is 7.5 km on forest trails. Even if you are not a runner you can still join in the fun to support local tourism, watch the Arslanbob Walnut Race and take part in the Walnut Festival events. In addition to the marathon and festival events, there will be a music show featuring live music and dancing so be prepared to celebrate with locals and other festival goers.

Walnut Festival Activities include:

  • Walnut Trail Run (7.5 km)
  • Traditional games: Tug of war, arm wrestling, wrestling on horseback, weight lifting, checkers
  • Walnut related traditions and games: walnut harvesting riding a horse bareback, walnut cracking competition, walnut cake tasting competition
  • Local cooking competition - a delicious way to sample all the local food traditions!

Where: Arslanbob village in Jalal-Abad Region

When: 3 October, 2021. The race begins at 10:00 AM.

Note: It is recommended you report to the CBT Arslanbob office on 2 October, 2021 so you can be placed in a home stay, receive information about the event and get an introduction to the running route.

Entrance costs: Participation in Arslanbob Walnut Race costs 1,000 KGS/person (please be sure to bring all your own running gear). Entrance to the Walnut Festival alone is 500 KGS/person, including lunch, traditional games and the folklore show.
